How to be an expert at priority management

You might be prioritizing the more urgent things rather than the important.

Do you know your bigger goals? After you formulate them, you will be better able to see how the daily tasks related to (or not) to the bigger goals. At that point, you can better prioritize. The important things might be bigger, vaguer or less actionable. Developing better project management skills could alleviate this situation.

If it all feels like too much to prioritize, you could have low energy. In this case, start easy. Don’t tax yourself. Bootstrap some energy, and over time you will be able to tackle bigger and harder tasks.

Ways to boost your energy:

  1. Listen to TED talks for inspiration. Here are some of our favorites about pursuing your passion and career design. 
  2. Find and listen to podcasts related to your passion. Listening to a good podcast is like being a fly on the wall for a conversation between two of your friends who happen to be experts in a topic you
  3. Find videos on YouTube related to your passion. YouTube claims to receive over 500 new hours of video per hour. You can even start with some of our recent uploads.!
  4. Make a list of your biggest energy drains. Can you eliminate or manage the worst or most frequent ones? In the words of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson; “You  either suffer the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.”
